About the Event
Have you ever wondered what's darting beneath the surface of your local river or stream? Join us for a hands-on Stream Fish ID Workshop and find out!
Led by an Cameron Layne, a board member of the Native Fish Coalition, you'll learn:
How to seine - a helpful field tool for anglers and easy to learn how to use. It's part science, part treasure hunt, and a whole lot of fun.
Species identification - we will examine each fish we catch up close and Cam provide information on each species
Why these fish matter - we will talk about the importance of these fish and their presence in our streams
You might be surprised by the incredible diversity hiding in our local waters. Minnows and other small fish are far more than fish food, they're a vital link in the food chain, water quality indicators, and fascinating creatures in their own right.
